Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels

The Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of the Angels was founded in the year 1922 in Québec, Canada.  Their mission was exclusively for China.  In less than 25 years, 90 Canadians and 14 Chinese Sisters started to take care of the sick, the lepers and the orphans in 16 different places.

The Sisters were teaching English or Chinese but mostly giving religious education to “Chinese Virgins” i.e.  young women consecrated to God. They were also trained to be lay apostles for evangelization.

Everything seemed to be promising, until the war broke out. When Communist party took over China, the Sisters were obliged to leave their beloved adopted country.

As the saying goes, "God writes straight with crooked lines"; a new adventure was then ahead of the Sisters. New mission fields were opened to them: Japan, Tahiti, Peru, Tanzania, Congo, Brazil, Chile, Philippines and Rwanda.
